OKC Youth Art Sale
April 27, 2024

This year, I was blessed to get to sell my art in the 2024 Youth Art Sale in OKC. I got to meet a lot of new people and gain some support, alongside my friends and family who came out to support me.

I'm so grateful to all the people I met and everyone who made a contribution to support me, my newfound business, and most importantly, my art. It was beautiful to watch so many people come together in the name of art.

I wish to get to have another experience as great as this one. With all of my new friends and all of the old. Thank you for such a great memory.

In late March of 2024, I was accepted into the Young Talent of Oklahoma art show! I was surprised to find out I had won a Merit award for my piece "State of Mind". The ceremony showed many talented young artist with amazing pieces, I was lucky to be amongst them.

I made "State of Mind" to represent the mixed emotions I had about my hair when growing up. Being one of very few black kids in my school, I grew up resenting my big and messy hair. That anger and sadness that came with living with it, the frustrations with trying to fix it, it manifested as I got older. It took almost 17 years, and even though I still struggle with that answer, I'm learning to really love my beautiful big hair.

FYI: I'M ABOUT TO LOVE YOU
